G.I. Joe 3 3/4-inch action figures were manufactured in Argentina by the Plastirama toy company in the mid 1980's. These figures were officially licensed by Hasbro, Inc. and used the regional title G.I. Joe: Comandos Heroicos (Heroic Commandos). They often included mixed figure parts and different paint applications from their U.S. counterparts. One of the more interesting combinations created a new character... Desactivador de Bombas -- Code Name: T.N.T.!
He is a silver and blue version of the 1984 BLOWTORCH figure with a different helmet and waist piece. An interesting fact about his code name is that it's actually the initials of his file name, Theodore N. Thomas, but also references the chemical explosive that is part of his specialty. Many of the original carded action figures have a red "Gratis" sticker
on them. These were part of a Plastirama company promotion that provided the figure "free" with the purchase of a large-scale G.I. Joe vehicle. Later releases did not have
the sticker but often included a different weapon accessory. These variant weapons included a flamethrower, assault rifle, or the more common sub-machine gun.
G.I. JOE BOMB DISPOSAL EXPERT: THEODORE N. THOMAS (T.N.T.) is part of the twelve GIJCC: Figure Subscription Service offerings. This new 25th Anniversary-style carded action figure includes: removable
helmet, excavation tool, backpack with removable accessories, sub-machine gun, and G.I. Joe figure stand.
